Removing an eSIM profile

When deleting makes sense, and when you should just switch the profile off instead.

Updated

Before you delete: a deleted eSIM cannot be restored from the same QR code. If the plan is still running, switch the profile off instead.

Switching off instead of deleting

On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > select the line > Turn Off This Line.

On Android: Settings > SIM manager > select the eSIM > toggle it off.

A switched-off profile uses neither data nor battery and waits for the next trip.

When deleting makes sense

  • The plan has expired and the data is used up.
  • You are selling or giving away the phone.
  • You have hit the maximum number of profiles the phone can store.

How to delete

On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > select the line > Delete eSIM.

On Android: Settings > SIM manager > select the eSIM > Remove or Erase SIM.

Before a factory reset

A factory reset also wipes eSIM profiles. If you have an active plan, contact support before resetting so we can see what can be done.
