Why go regional

  • Borders do not cut your internet

Cross a border and your phone hops onto the next country network by itself.

  • Cheaper than several plans

One regional plan usually costs less than two or three separate ones.

  • Maps keep working

Navigation holds up on long stretches, including where there is no Wi-Fi anywhere.

About this region

A Balkan trip rarely stops at one country. You start in Belgrade, sleep in Kotor, have lunch in Shkoder and come back through Ohrid. The regional eSIM covers that entire loop with a single plan, so you are not hunting for a new SIM at every crossing.

What the Balkans plan covers

The regional plan works in Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo, plus Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania and Greece - the countries you end up detouring into anyway.

When regional beats a single-country plan

  • One country, one base. Take the destination plan; it is usually cheaper per gigabyte.
  • Two or more borders. The regional plan saves both money and fiddling, because nothing in the phone has to change.
  • Driving through the region. Navigation uses little data but must not drop. This is where a regional plan earns its keep.

How it works

Install the profile at home on Wi-Fi, before you travel. When you cross a border the phone finds the local partner network on its own. Nothing to tap, at any crossing.

Your own number stays

Your physical SIM stays in the phone. Calls and texts still use your own number, and WhatsApp or Viber keep working because they are tied to the number, not to the card. Just switch data roaming off for the home SIM and everything runs over the eSIM.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, Serbia is inside the Balkans coverage. If you pass back through on the way home, data keeps working without a break.

No. The phone selects the partner network in whichever country you are in. You just keep driving.

Most regional plans can be topped up from your account, with no reinstall and no new QR code.

Per gigabyte it usually is slightly more, but it costs less than buying two or three separate plans. If you only cross one border, compare both on the destination page.

Coverage at sea depends on how far you are from shore. Near the coast and in ports it normally works; mid crossing, expect gaps.

Yes, hotspot works on the metered plans. Keep in mind a laptop on hotspot burns through data far faster than a phone.

Only going to one country?

If you are staying put, a single-destination plan is usually cheaper.
