About this region

Going from New York to Toronto, or Florida to Cancun, does not have to mean a new SIM. The regional plan covers all three countries, so neither the airport nor the border stops you for connectivity.

Why not a local SIM

Prepaid offers in the United States and Canada are usually built around longer terms and want a local address or payment card. For a ten day trip that is too much paperwork. An eSIM is paid once and the story ends there.

How much data

City sightseeing and maps run fine on 5 GB a week. For a rental car and longer routes, where navigation runs all day, take 10 GB. Working off a laptop on hotspot makes 20 GB the realistic choice.

Coverage

Cities and interstates are covered very well. In national parks and desert stretches there is often no signal on any network, so download offline maps before you set off.

Time zones and family

Calls home through apps work normally over eSIM data. Your own number still receives bank verification texts, because the physical SIM stays in the phone.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, all three countries share the same footprint. Crossing a border needs no change on the phone.

Hawaii and Alaska are US states and are inside the US footprint, though remote parts of Alaska may have no signal at all.

No. This is a data-only plan. If you need a local number for deliveries or reservations, use a virtual number app.

Yes, hotspot works on the metered plans. A laptop consumes far faster than a phone, so size the plan accordingly.

Top up from your account, with no reinstall.

The phone must be carrier unlocked. Devices bought on an instalment plan are sometimes locked, so check before you travel.

Only going to one country?

If you are staying put, a single-destination plan is usually cheaper.
